Jenny asks…

Who here was dissapointed with Microsoft’s E3?

Now I didnt get to watch ALL of the coverage because g4 got dropped on direcTV but I did see the highlights of E3 2011.

Man was I dissapointed. TWO NEW HALO GAMES (wtf enough Halo already), another Gears and just a ton of Kinect garbage. Voice intergration doesnt even seem like a practical feature. Oh and motion controlled games are not the games of the future so lets quit focusing on that already.

I would give Microsoft at E3 this year a 2/10. What about you guys?

answers:

I Was expecting the Xbox 720 And Gta V apart from mass effect 3, Call of duty and Tomb raider i would rate it 4/10 P.S Why do microsoft have Voice Integration it doesn’t work

Daniel asks…

Which console should I get?

I’ve outed the Wii because I’m mainly gettin’ a console for any and all street fighter games (SSFIV) and kingdom hearts (if they ever make another). Anyways, I find that it’s easier for me to play on the 360 but I think I could get used to the PS3 since I began playing sf on the ps2 (if you don’t count sf2). Also, online is free for PS3 which is a huge plus but after E3 I’m back at square one again. I’m considering waiting until 2011 in case they release a new model with kinect, 360 slim, move etc etc. And what’s with the PSN Plus thing? Help help help! I am leaning towards PS3 since a lot of my friends have it so we can play online but yeah what do you guys think?

Btw I’m probably going to use it for online street fighter-ing most.

answers:

I would get what ever console your friends have, you’ll find playing with random people inst as fun as playing with your friends. If you get a 360 make sure you get the new Xbox 360 “S”. Other answers say get the “Elite” but that’s an older model not the new one.

I don’t have a PS3 but I hear they are good. The PSN network isn’t as good as Xbox Live but it is free and Sony has announced many improvements on the way during E3.

Ken asks…

My E3 Highlights. What are yours?

3DS
The new 3D console with the first reasonably sized, easy to use analog stick on a portable console, rumble for the first time portable and motion controls made by a real game company; this is what the 3DS is bringing to gaming. This console is going to be huge with a great launch lineup. Kid Icarus, Ocarina Of Time and Lylat Wars(Starfox 64) in 3D and 128-Bit, Metal Gear Solid 3 and Splinter Cell Chaos Theory remade in 3D, Resident Evil Revelations, Mario Kart 3D, Paper Mario 3D, Super Street Fighter 4:3D Edition, Nintendogs+Cats, Dead Or Alive 3D and Sims 3 in 3D. It’s almost like a dream how good the lineup is. Every game being released for it has a high potential to be good (Except for Martha Stewart. That’s going to suck. If there’s shovelware Nintendo could do without, it’s cooking games and the horrible Carnival Games series as well)

Zelda Skyward Sword
It may have been delayed to 2011, but that’s all the better because that means that it will more likely be perfect as Eiji Aounuma is trying to make it. Wiimotion Plus will make the masterpiece series even better. I don’t think Ocarina Of Time could even stand the wrath of this new Zelda game. This is the game I’m most looking forward to.

Goldeneye
I have an N64 with the original Goldeneye. I still love that game. Multiplayer is really frantic and fun. The single player gameplay is also a lot of fun. The cheats are very amusing on top of that. I cncan’tait to see this remake with the Daniel Craig Bond taking the lead role. It’s what a lot of gamers have been waiting for.

Zelda: Ocarina Of Time 3D
I mentioned this earlier. The greatest game ever gets a 3D facelift and has its problems fixed. A new generation can experience the magic. I really want to see how it gets pulled off in 3D with a touch screen and motion accelerometer. This and Lylat Wars are the best possible remake choices that I’m REALLY looking forward to!!

I only went for Nintendo because Kinect and Sony showing off the 3D and motion controls we saw 5 years ago and calling it revolutionary weren’t really anything special. I also don’t care for Halo or Gears Of War.

So who did you think owned E3? What were your thoughts on things? Tell me!

answers:

Nintendo hands down.

Maria asks…

10 reasons why the wii sucks?

I love mario games and that’s why I have Mario as my user name. But I can not stand the wii because of how badly it sucks. I love Mario, hate Wii. Here are 10 reasons why it sucks.
1. The graphics are almost the same as game cubes, the graphics did not improve at all for nintendo since 2002.
2. About 95% of the games are unplayable, they are either baby games or movie games. The other 4% are ok and 1% is good, like super mario galaxy and stuff.
3. The motion controls where good for 2006 and 2007 but we are in 2011 and have better motion controls now with the Xbox and playstation, Wii never updates there stuff.
4. They abandoned there fan market to target old people and casual gamers.
5. Why does the wii have to be so small? If they think they were making the wii cuter by making it smaller I have no idea what they were thinking, if it was bigger it could have bigger and better graphics in games!
6. Wii says it has online playability but only for 1% of the games, and when it does have online playing it takes like 20 minutes to find someone. Xbox you have to pay but it works perfectly.
7. The batteries for the wiimotes die in 2 days, Xbox ones last for weeks.
8. Why you can’t watch dvds on the wii is something I could never figure out, every other disc player thing you watch dvds but wii you can’t for some reason. It’s just a big step backwards.
9. I hate nintendo for saying the Wii is exercise, there are no games on the wii where you actually exercise while playing. On wii fit you just lean in diffrent directions. Most of the time while playing wii you just flick your wrist. Xbox has kinect which is real exercise.
10. My final reason is not just a wii problem, but a entire nintendo problem. They will never make new series. Nintendo just will not try to make new video game series, they have had Mario, Zelda Metroid, Kirby, Donkey Kong etc. for years and really no other games. I like mario but I hate nintendo for relying on the past to survive, they will never come up with new ideas and just keep remaking games despite how old they get.
I used to like nintendo up until the 2000’2 because I thought the gamecube was bad also but the wii is by far the worst. I miss the NES days.

answers:

1. The graphics are insanely better than the gamecube. Look at SMG 1&2 for proof.
2. There are great games for the Wii but people have never heard of or bothered to play like Okami, Sin and Punishment, Red Steel 2, Muramasa the Demon Blades and more.
3. The Wii was the first to introduce motion control gaming, that’s why the Wii became so popular. Kinect and Move copied Wii and implemented their own designs with it.
4. Not true. They have games that appeal to the old school gamers like New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Donkey Kong Country Returns and they bring in new fans by helping them out like in SMG 2. You can’t keep the same fan base forever, everyone grows up.
5. Look at the PS3 when it first came out. It was too big an overpriced, that’s why it wasn’t doing so great, now they trimmed it down and it’s doing better. Bigger doesn’t always mean better.
6. It’s true that the only game that has really good wifi is Mario Kart. But Nintendo made it big because they created amazing platformer games, it’s not easy to combine online play with platformers.
7. I’ve had batteries in my Wii remote for 2 weeks and I play every day. They haven’t died yet. Plus my brother who has a 360 is always asking me for new batteries for his controller.
8. That one I never understood either. But I have a dvd player in my home theater and it was there even before I got a Wii so to me that wasn’t a big deal.
9. The Wii Fit is actally good for you because your moving your whole body while playing a video game as opposed to just sitting down and pressing buttons. Obviously it’s not the same as running a whole mile, but for people who don’t do any exercise it’s great to make you get up and move. And speaking of the Move, you move your whole body too, but the Wii Fit came first. Before Move and Kinect, the PS3 & 360 didn’t have any incentive to make you want to exercise.
10. Yes Nintendo started out with Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Kirby, Donkey Kong and more but they created spin offs and new series with them that I can’t name them all. A few are Legend of Zelda in 3D, Mario in 3D, Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros., new artwork styles and story lines, and so much more. One example of how they change is Legend of Zelda. Can you think of any game in the series that’s been exactly the same? No. Because each game has been unique in their own way. Same for Mario, Kirby, Metroid, Donkey Kong and more. I mean just look at E3! There finally making Kid Icarus after almost 2 decades!
In conclusion there is a whole lot about Nintendo you didn’t realize and the Wii is definitely an awesome console. So when you bash the Wii and Nintendo take a look at all of this again.

Thomas asks…

Too much technology… hate it?

I am tired of ebooks and stuff…

For me, the Kindle and Nook look cool, but I don’t fancy ever buying either. Why? It’s simply because I feel like too much time starring at a screen cannot be healthy on a person. We already have cell phones and computers. Not to mention the time we spend in front of televisions… It’s not about being ‘hip’ or whatever. I’m seventeen years old. I don’t like pretty much being forced to look at screens all the time. Most kids in my age group spend way too much time with gadgets. Wasn’t there a study recently that said the average is 8-9 hours? That’s just insane. We should sleep for about 8-9 hours, yet a lot of us get far less because of all the distractions. I even have to lower the brightness on my computer to it’s lowest setting. Do you know why? Well, I usually write on my laptop before I go to bed. If the brightness is so high, my body is going to think that it’s morning! Therefore, it causes sleep problems. I used to not be able to sleep for the longest time because of it. Well, now that I make sure the brightness is low, I haven’t a problem getting to sleep.

What else bugs me? The Kinect, 3D all over the place, and etc. My friend has a kinect. It’s fun, but ugh. Exercising has to be done by the TV? Really? I used to have fun with the wii fit. It’s fun to play games on it, but I find it sad that we have to use it as our main exercise sessions. I don’t know. I guess it works for people who can’t go outside. : I personally think 3D movies are awesome. I love seeing them in the theater as a treat every other month or so. Just, I don’t like all this over-saturation. 3D game consoles and etc… Just, ugh. Anyone agree with me? Am I alone here?

Anyway, my point is, yeah… all this technology is just flat out tiring on me. Yeah, it’s pretty cool, but really, I don’t think it’s healthy to overindulge in it all. I read real books. I adore my hardcovers. Yes, I realize that it takes trees to make these books, but I really cherish them. They’re my escape from the world (including the digital world)… I care for the environment too, though. I use a tote bag for buying products at stores. I ride my bike. I’m a vegetarian. I even plant trees. I know it doesn’t make that much of a difference, but I do care. That doesn’t make me a bad person for reading actual books.

I sometimes wish I lived in a different time. I worry about the future. Like, twenty years from now, people like me may think, “Wow, 2011 was the good old days.” lol while others may think, “Ick. 2011… That was such a long time ago. How could we live without such and such gadget? What would we do without our robot maids?” : Ugh. The ‘future’ was always cool to dream about as a little kid, but now it just seems like a horrid nightmare to me. My head hurts. Really. I guess we should be careful of what we wish for. :(
Olivia, you have obviously not read my question. I said too much technology is bad for a person. That doesn’t mean I can’t use my computer in moderation.

answers:

I love reading real books as well as conveniently reading e-books on my iPod Touch since it’s a lit product. However, I definitely see your point. We do have so many distractions and as soon as you mentioned the computer screen being too bright for you before bed at night, I automatically turned mine down. I knew already that it wasn’t very good for you then and can keep you up, but I never really did anything about it and am always on it before bed.

I see it only getting worse though, as opposed to better…
